A. Gerald Baker, 76, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 9, 2009.

Services will be at 10 a.m. today in East Mausoleum in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Fox officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St.

Gerald was born June 24, 1932, in Eastland. He had a knack for fixing things; he loved to build things that couldn't be built. He also was a man of many talents. Gerald retired from the Coca-Cola plant in Amarillo after 42 years of service. He also managed the Fairgrounds Laundromat for the last 11 years. Gerald was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death both parents; his wife, Joyce Baker, in 1995; a son, Paul "Red" Baker; and a great-grandson. Chris Baker.

Survivors include a son, Albert Baker and special friend Bobi Wolfe of Amarillo; a brother, Travis Baker of Comanche; two sisters, Eva Sue Johnson of Comanche and Evelyn Baker of Stephenville; three grandchildren, Bobbie Baker and husband John Nunez and Darrel Wayne, all of Amarillo, and Teresa Leach and husband Philip of London, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Nunez and Brandon and Kaleb Leach.

The family suggests memorials be to Odyssey Healthcare, 6900 W. Interstate 40, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
