"Death of Hon. Thos. B. Rowland
Thomas B. Rowland, of Lake Valley, this county, died at his home on the 20th day of August, 1883. He was one of the early settlers in Lake Valley and will long be remembered as kind hearted and of a benevolent disposition. Mr. Rowland was a member of the last Legislature, elected on the Democratic ticket as joint member from El Dorado and Alpine counties. He was prostrated by a fever which at times was serious, and in consequence of which he was unable to take much part in legislative affairs. He was, however, always in his seat when permitted to by his physician, proving his determination to win the approval and confidence of his constituents, in which he was successful to the fullest extent. He leaves a wife and two daughters to weep for the loss of a good and loving husband and father."
