Harold John Kirby, age 93, passed away peacefully Nov. 27, 1995 , in Bountiful, Utah.

Born August 5, 1902, in Hyde Park, Utah, the son of John Bencley and Elizabeth Seamons Kirby. He married Ethel Isabella Bird on October 18, 1929 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on February 24, 1990.

Harold was active in the LDS Church all his life, serving in numerous ward and stake positions. He went to work for Joseph Fielding Smith as secretary for the Genealogical Society of Utah in 1931, where he traveled the western United States and Canada. In 1944 he was asked to be a Receiving Teller for the Presiding Bishops Office of the Church, where for the next 27 years he receipted the tithing for the church. He retired in 1971 after 40 years of service to the Church.

He was a kind and gentle man, always giving of himself to others. Survived by his sister, Hazel Robbins of Weston, Idaho, and a brother Evan Kirby of Ogden, Utah; two children, Gerald B. Kirby (Marla) of Centerville, Ut., and Carma Chappuis (Jacques) of Salt Lake. He has 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
