At VA Center Dies
One of the most popular and longest termed patients at Newton D. Baker VA Center at Martinsburg - James William Burns - died Wednesday afternoon.
A patient there since 1946, most of the time confined to his bed, Jimmy was 50 years of age.
His never failing cheerfulness radiated throughout the institution as he talked to others about their own interests and cares, never mentioning his own pains and troubles.
Born in McKeesport, PA., February 12, 1904, Jimmy was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He has a number of relatives and friends in Washington County.
Surviving are: Wife, Doris Jenkins Burns of Washington; daughter, Mrs Juanita DeCourcey of near Washington; son, Cpl. James W. Burns, Jr., a member of an infantry division in Germany; brother, Charles A Burns of Washington; sister, Mrs Lottie Lang of New Philadelphia, Ohio.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the W. W. Chambers Funeral Home 517 Eleventh Street, SE, Washington, D.C.
