Amos Fohl, a farmer residing near Gardner's Station this county, on the G. & H. railroad, while hauling corn from a field on Thursday morning last, fell from the wagon, two of the wheels of which passed over the middle of his body.

The accident was caused by the breaking of the foot-board in tbe front of the wagon. Mr. Fohl was seated on this board when it broke and fell between the horses and underneath the wheels. His back was broken, and he lived but a few hours afterward.

The deceased was aged about 64 years and is survived by a wife and several sons and daughters

A Civil War veteran, he was drafted in Adams County October 16, 1862, mustered into federal service at Gettysburg November 6 as a private with Co. F, 165th Pennsylvania Infantry (aka "Drafted Militia"), and honorably discharged with his company July 28, 1863, at Gettysburg. He also enlisted in Middletown (likely today's Biglerville, Adams County) February 27, 1865, mustered at Harrisburg September 6 as a private with the second organization of Co. A, 103rd Pennsylvania Infantrh, and honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865.
