After graduating from Ralph Bunche High School in 1962, he enrolled in Tyler Barber College and became a licensed barber. He was employed as a barber in Lufkin and Corpus Christi before joining the United States Army in 1965. Mr. Hall's occupational careers allowed him to touch the lives of many people with his smile, generosity, and kind spirit.
Survivors include his three loving sisters Jacquelyn Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev., Hayretha Thomas, of Houston and Frances Hall, of Las Vegas, Nev.; one devoted brother Cass Hall, of Dallas; two brothers-in-law Billy P. Smith, of Las Vegas, Nev. And Booker T. Thomas, of Houston; one aunt Thelma Tubbs, of Dallas; seven children Erika, Sheree, James, Preze, Khristi, Marcus and Taronda; one son-in-law Forester Baker husband of Sheree; five grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Goree Hall Jr. were held Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Lovelady officiating. Military Graveside Services followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, which included the playing of Taps and three uniformed military personnel folding and presenting the United States burial flag.
