Marie was born Nov. 23, 1918 in Boynton, OK to William and Cora (Bishop) Coughran. She passed this life on April 10, 2009 in the comfort of her home. She was married to John Dial Martin on 12-9-1933. She retired from the Cedar Manor Nursing Home and was a lifetime resident of Checotah. Marie was a longtime member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. She was always dedicated to her husband and her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and we will all miss her smiles, hugs, laughs, and good hearted free spiritedness. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Shirley Vandiver; sons, Johnny Martin and his wife Carol, and Joe Bob Martin all of Checotah; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son August, and son-in-law Donald Ray Vandiver; four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services for Marie will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with interment following in the Greenlawn Cemetery. Her grandsons, Mark and Tim Vandiver, Keith, Brian, Steve and Josh Martin will serve as casketbearers.
