Donald Edward Arnegard, a Redlands resident for 62 years, died Jan. 13, 2008 at Redlands Community Hospital following a short illness. He was 86 years.

He was born June 16, 1921, in Hillsboro, ND, to Lydia and Eddie Arnegard. He grew up on his family's wheat farm, the joined the US Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during World War 11.

He married Jane Allinder in 1945, and graduated from the University of Redlands in 1949, with a degree in business administration.

He was an insurance agent, real estate broker and later owner of Inland Empire Septic and Plumbing, Inc., a plumbing contractor. He also served as President of the Redlands Board of Realtors.

He was a scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 6 at First Congregational Church for many years, and founded the troop at the House of Neighborly Service in Redlands. He was a member of the Elks and the Optimists and of Sunkissed and Who Goofed square dance clubs. He served as president of the two square dance clubs. He was also a member of Redlands United Church of Christ.

Arnegard "had a zest for life," his family wrote. He liked to read, travel and bird watch.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jane Arnegard of Redlands; son Mark Arnegard of Flagstaff, AZ; son David Arnegard and his wife, Yvonne, of Foster City, CA; grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Arnegard of Foster City, CA; nephew, Lance Arnegard of Redlands and niece, Valerie Underwood of Fairborn, OH.

Memorial services are 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2nd, at Redlands United Church of Christ, 168 Bellevue Ave. Burial was private.
