Madeline Bigelow Dies at 62

Mrs. Madeline E. Bigelow, 62, of 622 Burchard St., widow of Harvey Bigelow was dead upon arrival at 12:10 a.m. Sunday in Mercy Hospital. She had been ill for six months.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Reed and Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Benoit C. Dostie, pastor of Sacred Heart Church, officiating. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery.
Calling at the funeral home will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
Surving are two sons, Lawrence E. LaVere, jr., 748 Cooper Street, and Henry J., 430 Dimmick Street; a brother, William Belcher, Syracuse; two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Morehouse, Hilltop Towers, and Mrs. Frank (Geraldine) Selinsky, Jersey City, N.J., and seventeen grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Rose Marie Monica, died January 9, 1970, in Watertown.
Born April 11, 1914, in Watertown, a daughter of John and Lula Jewett Belcher, she attended Watertown schools and married Lawrence LaVere of Lorraine. The marriage ended in divorce and she married Harvey Bigelow Dec. 17, 1949, at Evans Mills. He died Sept. 18, 1951, in the House of the Good Samaritan at the age of 50.
Mrs. Bigelow formerly worked at Gibson's Laundry and for the Jefferson County and Mercer Hospitals.
She was a former member of Barben - Jones Post 1400, VFW Auxiliary.
