Candice Leigh Feland, 17, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Aalbers, pastor, officiating. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Ms. Feland was born in Amarillo and had lived in Claude her entire life. She was a student at Claude High School where she was active in student council.

Survivors include her parents, Sharla and Michael Feland of Claude; grandparents, Jeannie and Rex Aduddell of Claude; great-grandmother, Mrs. Edd Aduddell of Claude; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family suggests memorials be to American Lung Association of Texas, 3520 Executive Center Drive, Suite G-100, Austin, TX 78731-1698.

Rollover kills 1, injures 1

CLAUDE - A Claude teen-ager was killed and another was injured Friday night in a one-vehicle rollover.

Candice Feland, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck, which happened just after 10 p.m. Friday southwest of Claude on County Road 13, according to a Department of Public Safety report.

The driver of the vehicle, Cassie Spiller, 17, was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. She was critically injured in the wreck but is expected to survive.

Spiller was driving her 1992 Pontiac Grand Am southbound on County Road 13 when she lost control, ran off the right side of the road and rolled the car 2 times, according to the report.

Neither victim was wearing a seat belt and both were ejected from the vehicle, the report said.
