Samuel Jackson McAnear, son of Alexander McAnear (1803-1871), and Elizabeth "Betty" Blanton (1810-1871), married October 14, 1858, to Lucinda Minerva Carter (1835-1906), daughter of Wilbur "Billie" Carter and Mary Mankins.

Jackson was born with two thumbs on each hand. He and Lucinda lived in Cleburne, Johnson Co., TX, until 1889 when they moved to Jack Co., TX. Of their 7 children, all were born in Cleburne , except the youngest, Benjamin who was born in Alverado, Johnson, Co., TX. Jack was in the Civil War. In the 1860 Johnson Co. Census p. 81 SJ McAnear 27 farmer born in AL.
