Charles P. JOHNSON of 11 Charlton Street, Worcester, MA, a veteran of the Civil War, died last night, April 28, 1916, in his home. He was 69 years, 5 months and 10 days old, born November 19, 1846 in Brandon, VT. He was a foreman in the Hatch & Barnes shop.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Ridgely Lodge, I. O. O. F., the Shaffner Society and the George H. Ward Post 10, G.A.R. He enlisted in the Second Battery Light Artillery August 3, 1864 and served until July 31, 1865 when he was mustered out in Springfield. He was predeased by his first wife, Adelia A. Lampman JOHNSON. Besides his widow, Eliza M. JOHNSON, he leaves two sons, Guy Benjamin JOHNSON of Shamokin, PA and Ralph Waldo JOHNSON of New Orleans, LA and a daughter, Mrs. Leora M. Johnson (Sharpe) FEELEY of New York.
The funeral will be held from F. A. Caswell & Co.'s funeral parlors tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Dr. Edward P. Drew of Old South Church will officiate. Rev. Charles M. Crooks will conduct a commital service at the grave. Pall bearers are Charles A. Mayers, Henry E. Southwick, Rufus H. Morton, Edward P. Oleson, George S. Hatch and Frank Barrett. There will be singing by the Orpheus Quartet. Interment is to be in Hope Cemetery.
