SHAWNEE, Okla. — Edgar "Short" Beeson left this world surrounded by his loving family at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born on September 12, 1915 to Sarah Abigail (Beach) and James Freddie Beeson in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. He attended school in McLoud, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a soldier, farmer, carpenter, and retired from Tinker Field in 1980. He was a 32nd Degree Mason for 62 years with the Chapter #126 Masonic Lodge, and he belonged to the American Legion Post #244 for 63 years.

On July 19, 1946 he married the love of his life Alice Rose (Haley), and they had 62 wonderful years with each other. Together they raised 3 sons: Edgar "Corky", Tommie, and Freddie.
Short looked forward to his afternoon of domino playing with his buddies at the American Legion. It was said that you always knew what time of day it was when you seen Short going into town to play dominos.

He loved working on his farm and tending to his cattle, he said that he always felt closer to God when he was working in the soil. On July 2008 ‘Short" and his wife Alice Rose were the Grand Marshals for the Annual Blackberry Festival, he really enjoyed that honor, and his smile could be seen for miles. He was a fine and honorable man, and will be missed.

His Mother and Father, and Son Edgar "Corky" Beeson preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, James and Elmer Beeson; sisters, Thelma Petricek, Nettie Large Bassinger, Myrtle Cochran and Maurine Aitkin; sister-in-law, Beatrice Beeson, Joan (Haley) Sink, and Vivian (Haley) Broden; brother-in-laws, Jewel Large, Bill Patrieck, Garland Aitkin, Oburn Cochran, Clarence Haley and Sammy Haley. "Short" Beeson is survived by his loving wife of the home, Alice Rose (Haley) Beeson; sons, Tommie Beeson, Freddie Beeson and his wife, Tassey Beeson; grandchildren, Melissa (Beeson) Heindselman and husband Bryan, and 3 children, of Edmond, Okla, Jessie James "JJ" Beeson and wife, Shawnaree and 3 children, of Yukon, Okla, Zachary Beeson of Pagosa Springs, Colo, Rusty Beeson and 2 children, Rocky Beeson wife, Michelle and 5 children of McLoud, Okla, Jennifer (Beeson) Smith and husband, Russell Smith and 3 children of McLoud, Okla, and Chalk Beeson and wife, Ashley of Guthrie, Okla; sister-in law Ellen Beeson, Deloris Haley and Lenna May (Haley) and husband LT McCuller; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at the McLoud United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ruth Tripp officiating. Burial will follow at Jamison Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
