DEATH CLAIMED FORMER COUNTY COMMISSIONER
Harrison Spotts Died Suddenly at His Home at Houcksville
WAS WIDELY KNOWN
Ardent Republican and Served on Township School Board

Former County Commissioner Harrison Z. Spotts, a widely known retired farmer, died suddenly on Monday evening at his home in Houcksville, on the Cornwall turnpike, just beyond the southern city limits, from heart failure brought on by over excitement. The Spotts home is but a mile from the scene of the destruction of the big bank barn on the Light farm in North Cornwall township which was struck by lightening during the early Monday evening storm and the knowledge of the fire is believed to have proven too much for Mr. Spotts' debilitated condition. In his 76th year, he had on December 9, 1906, suffered a stroke of paralysis which required his retirement from his former activities and although he had recovered from its first serious effects he never fully regained his former strength. For a period of a quarter century he had been tenant of the Warren G. Light farm in the region to the south of this city and this fact coupled with his services as a county commissioner made him widely known. The news of his unexpected death coming as a shock to many who held him in high esteem.

Benjamin Zweitzig, and their union was blessed by seven children, all of whom, with Mrs. Spotts are left as follows: Mrs. Edward Wolf, Mrs. Albert Gruber, Harry G. Spotts, Mrs. Albert Killian, all of the Cornwall Pike; Mrs. Gertrude Miller, Twelfth Street Heights; Jacob A. Spotts, of Rocherty, and G. H. Spotts, this city.
