William's obituary was published in the Hinckley News, Hinckley, Pine County, Minnesota on Thursday, October 23, 1969:
"Services Held for
William Jaquis
Mr. William Jaquis was born July 30th 1876 near Shell Rock, Iowa, the son of Elihu and Mary Jaquis.
On June 21, 1900 he was united in marriage to Bessie Turner, also of the Shell Rock area.
Will and Bess had ten children, four of whom survive: They are (Marion) Mrs. Ralph Sikkink of Waubay, South Dakota; (Elizabeth) Mrs. Stuart Sikkink of Hinckley, (Evelyn) Mrs. Dennis Ryan of St. Paul, and Lewis of Hastings. Also one sister, Mrs. Hattie Turner of Waverly, Iowa.
William Jaquis was preceded in death by his wife Bess in June of 1956; infant daughter Zelda at Gary, South Dakota; daughter, Merle Corwin at Waterloo, Iowa; son, Ronald; twin daughters, Marjorie and Marcella, all of Hinckley and son, Max of Parkersburg, Iowa.
Mr. and Mrs. Jaquis moved to the Lone Pine neighborhood of the Hinckley area in the spring of 1917 and lived in the Hinckley area the rest of their lives.
The couple was privileged to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary together in 1955.
William Jaquis also leaves 17 grand children, 34 great grand children and 7 great-great grandchildren.
They all attended his funeral and it was the first time they had all been together.
He was a farmer most of his life, but upon his retirement from the farm, he spent many years doing carpentry work in the area and the raising of plants and flowers.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Hinckley. Served on its Board of Elders for several years. At the time of his death, he was 93 years old."
