Esther L. Sadler, 89, of the ECC Retirement Village-Albright Campus, Myerstown, formerly of W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 23, 2005, at the retirement village. She was the widow of Bert R. Sadler, who died in 1982.

Born in Jackson Township, Lebanon County, Pa., on August 30, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Leah (Dubble) Balsbaugh. She graduated from Myerstown High School in 1934. She was as a custodian at the Myerstown Laundromat for many years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, knitting and reading.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean L., wife of Roger Miller, Sinking Spring; three sons, Glenn Behney, Myerstown, Edward Behney, Slatington, and Dale, husband of Susan Sadler, Northhampton; sister Beulah Balsbaugh, Myerstown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Amos Balsbaugh, Elsie Eberly, Marvin Balsbaugh, LeRoy Balsbaugh, Ruth Oxenreider and Caroline Firestine and great-grandson Nathaniel Durr.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown. There will be no viewing. Family will received friends Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment at Friedens Memorial Park, Myerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Myerstown Church of the Brethren, 51 W. Stoever Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067.
