Mrs. Greenlee Dies At Bowling Green

Funeral services for Mrs. Iva Edson Blakesley Greenlee, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church. The Rev. Fred Fish will officate. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery. The body will be at the Waters residence until the hour of the service.

Mrs. Greenlee died Tuesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Ansel Greenlee, a son and daughter-in-law, in Bowling Green. She had resided there for four months. Prior to her illness, Mrs. Greenlee had made her home in Vandalia.

Surving are four children, two daughters, Mrs. Ieca Lowrance, of Eugene, Oregon, Mrs. Janice Foley, of Toledo, Oregon, Elvis Lyle Greenlee of San Francisco, Calif and Claud Ansel Greenlee of Bowling Green, Mo. She also leaves two sisters Mrs. Bernice Miller Alexander of Lenox, Ia., Mrs. Harry Freiz of Council Bluffs, Ia. and a brother, Ray Miller of Riverside, Calif.

Born on July 4, 1888, at Burlington Junction, the former Miss. Iva Edson Blakesley was the daughter of Edson L. and Harriet Jane Alexander Blakesley. She had attended Stanbery and Maryville Normal Schools, had taught in Nodaway and Gentry Counties. She was married to Claud Alexander Greenlee in Burlington Junction, Mo., on 12 Mar 1908. They lived in Stanbery, Mo. until late 1929, when they moved to Columbia, Mo. About 1934 they made their home in Vandalia, Mo. Mr. Greenlee who died in a St. Louis hospital on 24 Jun 1952, at the age of 67, was formerly the founder and president of the Vandalia State Bank. The couple had operated the Ben Franklin Store in Bowling Green for eight years.

Mrs. Greenlee was a member of the First Christian Church, and of the Priscilla and Vandalia Garden Clubs.
