Leland D. Case was born in Iowa but spent most of his youth in South Dakota. He enlisted in the student army training corp at Northwestern University where he graduated with a Master's Degree in Journalism. He later became a correspondent in Europe where he interviewed Charles Lindburg on his trans atlantic flight. While working with the Rotarian he interviewed Orville Wright and Albert Einstein.
He moved to Tucson in the 1950s where he settled on the east side of town. Today there is a road (Leland) and a park (Case Park) named after him.
