William Ronald Paulette
(July 12, 1918 - December 11, 2005)
William Ronald Paulette Appomattox: William Ronald Paulette, of Rt. 1, died Sunday morning December 11, 2005, at his residence. He was the loving husband of 58 years to Martha Lewis Paulette. Born in Appomattox, Co., July 12, 1918, he was the son of the late Alice Warriner and Joseph P. Paulette. Ronald and his wife Martha owned and operated the Appomattox Dairy Queen for over 32 years, employing many people who became like family. He was a lifetime farmer on the family farm in Evergreen, selling at the farmer's market in Lynchburg, delivering eggs door-to-door, and selling popcorn to movie theaters as far away as Richmond and Washington D.C. As a youth, he was instrumental in forming the Young Farmer's Club in Appomattox County, and collecting signatures to make possible the first rural electric power line into his community. In 1939, he was a member of the Virginia delegation to the 12th National Convention of the Future Farmers of America. Ronald was an active member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, and sons-in-law Arlene and Bill Stratton of Appomattox, and Cathy and Kevin Haskins of West Chester, PA; six grandchildren, Monica S. Stanley and her husband Clay, Brett Stratton and his wife Tammy, Jeff Stratton and his wife Jodi, Courtney Haskins, Grant Haskins, and Luke Haskins; six great-grandchildren, Jackson, Alice, and Josie Stanley, Elliott and Eden Stratton, Connor Stratton; niece Abby Paulette Shirley; and four loving and devoted caregivers Daisy Green, Frances Stermer, Kenny Kincaid and Barbara Hunter. He was preceded in death by two sisters Helen Paulette Lowe and Nellie Paulette Almond. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday December 13, 2005, in Evergreen United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael G. Day officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
