Shirley Ann (nee Johnson) Jackman, 86, of Media, died Feb. 21 at Lima Estates, Middletown Twp.
Born and raised in Illinois, Mrs. Jackman had lived in Oklahoma, Michigan, and Illinois before moving to Media 34 years ago.
Mrs. Jackman was a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve from 1943 to 1946. She attended Knox College for two years and Brown Business School.
She had worked for Stanolind Oil Company as a stenographer and for Kendall Research as a Lab Assistant.
Mrs. Jackman was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church, Media. In the past, she had been a church Secretary in Oklahoma; and volunteered at a well-baby clinic in Michigan.
Mrs. Jackman was a 1, 000 hour volunteer at Riddle Memorial Hospital and a Docent at the Brandywine River Museum. She enjoyed art, gardening, nature, and poetry.
Devoted to her family, she is survived by her husband, Reid Jackman; her son, Daniel Jackman of MI; daughters, Colleen Houseman of Philadelphia and Megan Strubbe of FL; and seven grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held Saturday at Nativity B.V.M. Church, Media. Interment was private.
