Peter A. Phillips, 61, of Erie, died Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center in Erie following a brief illness. He was born November 3, 1945 in Erie, a son of the late Theodore and Betty Bunnell Phillips. In his early years, Pete was active in scouting and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of Wattsburg High School. Pete was a revered Little League coach, was a dreamer, writer and an artist. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and boating, and he was enthusiastic about his antique cars. He first owned and operated Phillips Honda on Presque Isle and operated Carpet Mobile and Auto Ad Vision in Erie. He also was an independent installer of flooring and tile. Pete traveled the continent as a wandering salesman. He was a builder and inspirer of memories. In addition to his parents, Pete is preceded in death by a son, James Phillips and a brother, Michael Phillips. He is survived by two sons: TC Phillips of Erie and Michael Phillips of Fairview; and a daughter Elizabeth Phillips of Fairview; two sisters: Jane Zimmer and her husband Gary of Edinboro, and Paula Phillips of Virginia; and his former wife, Christine Hetz Phillips of Fairview. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be held in Burton's All Faiths' Chapel on Wednesday at 11am with Rev. Charles Cammarata officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
