Bettejane Roshak passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2013, at her residence in Newberg; she was 85. She had been struggling with heart issues for several years, but through all her suffering, she always had her sense of humor and was always able to put a smile on the faces of her loving family and caring caregivers at Avamere Newberg.
She was born in Dapp, Alberta, Canada to Audrey and Chauncey Davis. Bettejane was always proud of her Canadian roots. The family remained in Canada until she was 8, when they moved to the Tillamook area until WWII broke out, at which time they moved to the Pendelton area in support of the war effort. This is where she met the love of her life, John Roshak. The couple married on Feb. 10, 1948, and lived in Stanfield until 1949 when they moved to Tigard. They resided there until the summer of 1955 when they moved to Newberg where they lived out their lives and raised eight children.
Bettejane is survived by her eight children; 25 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. A rosary was said for Bettejane with a funeral Mass following at St. Peter Catholic Church in Newberg.
