Mass for Christian Burial for Aileen Frances (Hoehn) Cler, age 94 of Muenster, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Sacred Heart Community Center with Rev. Ken Robinson officiating with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home of Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Scott Funeral Chapel in Muenster. Mrs. Cler died Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at her residence.
One of the six children of Albert and Bertha (Donnelly) Hoehn, Aileen was born June 5, 1920 in Burkburnett, Texas. At the age of seven, her family moved to Muenster where she attended Sacred Heart Elementary and graduated from Muenster Public High School. Aileen became a Registered Nurse in September 1940 after attending nursing school at Gainesville Sanatorium.
On November 1, 1940, Aileen married Edward Cler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gainesville. From 1941 – 1947, they lived in Garland before moving back to Muenster to raise their family on the farm they bought.
Aileen worked as a nurse for a time at Major’s Clinic in Nocona and for ten years at Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster. She retired from nursing in 1976. In 1998, Ed and Aileen moved to Muenster. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters’ Association and St. Anne’s Society. Aileen took care of Ed until his death in 2008.
Aileen is survived by her daughters: Phyllis Youngblood of Muenster, Sandra and her husband, Leon Fuhrmann of Muenster, Deborah and her husband, Gene Hess of Muenster, Christa and her husband, Gerry Cash of Kennesaw, Georgia; her sons: Gary and his wife, Mary Cler of Snohomish, Washington, Jim Cler of Devine, TX, Tony Cler of Muenster, Mark and his wife, Ruth Cler of Muenster, Douglas and his wife Eva Cler of Lewisville; her sister-in-law: Lois Hoehn of St. Louis, MO; her brothers: Jack and his wife, Jeanne Hoehn of Nocona and Bill and his wife Rita Hoehn of Graham, TX; thirty-two grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Bertha (Donnelly) Hoehn; her husband, Ed Cler; her sister, Bertha Jane Hoehn; her brothers: Albert D. and Clarence M. “Bud” Hoehn.
Pallbearers were her grandsons: McKenzie Molsby, Richard Fuhrmann, Tom Youngblood, Bob Youngblood, Steven Youngblood, and Bill Youngblood.
