DEATH CLAIMS PIONEER WOMAN
Mrs. Elizabeth Alice Talmage Harding, 75, wife of Edward H. Harding, and Sister of the late Apostle James E. Talmage, died at her home, 369 North Seventh West Street, early Monday morning, following a heart attack.
She had been a resident of Provo for 63 years, coming here with her parents from England in 1876 as a girl 12 years old. She was born April 3, 1864 in Hungerford, Berkshire, England. She obtained the schooling available at the tlSie in Provo and served throughout her life in various church organizations. She was a counselor in the Relief society in the Pioneer ward when it was first organized. She was a teacher for the Relief Society and served also as Sunday school teacher in both the Pioneer and Third wards.
An accomplished needle woman, she won honors a number of times for her handiwork. A quilt which she made won honorable mention at the World's fair in Chicago.
She married Edward R. Harding in the Salt Lake Endowment house, September 13, 1883. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Albert T., Milton J., of Provo; Ortho L. Harding of Salt Lake City; five daughters, Mrs. Willard Peterson, Spanish Fork; Mrs: Leonard Beck, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lawrence Johnson, Mrs. George Hickman of Provo; Mrs. W. E. King, American Fork; 47 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Albert M. Talmage, Provo; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Patten, Provo and Mrs. Mary Downs, Orem.
Funeral services will be held Thurday at 1:30 p. m. in the Pioneer ward chapel with Bishop William D. Norman in charge. Friends • may call at the Berg mortuary, Wednesday evening and at the residence, prior to services. Interment will be in the Provo Burial park.
