MT. ANGEL, OR- Delores Helen Demezas, 84, of Mt. Angel, died on March 30, 2009, after spending the last five years of her life at Mt. Angel Towers Healthcare Center. She was the youngest of ten children born August 22, 1924 to Gephart and Veronica Ebner. She was raised in Mt. Angel and graduated from Mt. Angel Academy in 1942. After graduation, she and her best friend, Gertie may (Ercolini) set for the big city of Salem where she attended Modern Beauty College and worked as a beautifician until her marriage to our father. She married U.S. Air Force Captain Theodore (Ted) Demezas, of Silverton, on December 26, 1950 in Mt. Angel. During her husband's military career they lived in numerous places including Mobile, AL, Goose Bay Labrador Canada, and Novato, California.
After her husband's retirement from the military in 1967 they returned to Salem where they raised their family of five children. She was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and entertaining friends.
She is survived by her son Michael (Salem) and his wife, Nancy; daughter Nancy Erwin (Corvallis) and her husband, David; son David (Fond du Lac, WI) and his wife T. Colleen; and son Rob (Vancouver, WA) and his wife Mary. In addition, she is survived by eight grandchildren; Kirsten Demezas, Myriam Demezas, Megan and Corby Deglow, Eryn and Jered Demezas, Tiffanie and Jeru Demezas and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ted, son Terry, brothers and sisters, Ray, Bert, Marie, Henrietta, Delphine, Ed, Clarence, Pat and Marguerite. Her friends and family will dearly miss her.
A rosary will be held at the Mt. Angel Towers on Friday, April 3 at 7:00 PM and funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mt. Angel on Saturday, April 4, at 11:00 AM. Graveside services will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mt. Angel. Lunch will be provided after services at St. Mary's. Donations may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice of Salem or the Donate Life Northwest of Portland. The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Mt. Angel Towers and Willamette Valley Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM April 4, 2009 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 575 E. College St., Mt. Angel.
