George was first married to Sophia Maria (maiden name unknown). They had at least five children: Clara, Albert, Irene, Frank and Laura. After Sophia's death in 1917, George married Mary V. (Cavanaugh) Bruce on 30 July 1925 at Yankton, South Dakota. They had no children, but his step daughter Mildred lived with them in 1930.
