William Kubousek, age 89 of Forest River, ND passed away on Monday, January 30, 2006 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton. William Kubousek was born Dec. 12, 1916 in Forest River, ND the son of the late John and Franteska (Zacek) Kubousek. He grew up and attended school there. He served in the United States Army from 1942-1945 serving in Alaska and then as a White House Guard. Following his discharge he returned to Forest River. He married Doris Wylie on Oct. 17, 1950 in Park River, ND. The couple lived and farmed in the Forest River area until retiring in the early 1990's. They spent many winters in Florida. Doris passed away on Oct. 12, 1998. In Nov. of 2004 William moved to the St. Anne's Guest Home in Grand Forks and in Jan. of 2005 he moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton.He was a member of the Forest River Community Church, the Forest River American Legion Post #251 and the ZCBJ Lodge of Lankin, ND. He loved to spend time in his gardens. William is survived by his children: Gary Kubousek and William J. Kubousek both of Homestead, FL; Lisa (Kelly) Kowalski of Minto, ND; two grandchildren: Gary and Kelli and brother Frank Kubousek of Larimore, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and three sisters.
