Mary and George W. Freehafer were the parents of two sons, Harvey Delven Freehafer of Mansfield, and Homer Leroy Freehafer of Denver, Colorado.
After George W.'s death in 1881, Mary Elizabeth was married a second time to Peter Remy. Mary and Peter were the parents of Nina C. Remy who married Earl K. Rickner.
Mary died on May 16, 1922, and was buried beside her first husband, George Washington Freehafer at Four Corners (aka Zion) Cemetery, near Butler, Richland County, Ohio.

MARY ELIZABETH REMY, aged 67 years, widow of Peter Remy, died this morning at 3:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Earl Rickner, 27 Sheridan Avenue, following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Remy was born in Worthington Township, east of Butler, January 26, 1855, and has always been a resident of this county.
She is survived by two sons, Harvey Freehafer of this city, and Homer Freehafer of Denver, Colorado, and one daughter, Mrs. Earl Rickner of this city. Also three brothers, Cyrus Cates and Sanford Cates of Wheeler, Michigan, Anthony Cates of Mansfield, and three sisters, Mrs. Albert Zellner and Miss Nora Cates of this city, and Mrs. William Mishey of Chesterville, and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted by her pastor, Rev. H.E. Kuntz, at the Main Street Evangelical Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Burial will be in Four Corners Cemetery, north of Butler.
