Charles W. Pairo Was Born in Washington Eighty-seven Years Ago.
Charles W. Pairo, one of the oldest native citizens of Washington died yesterday afternoon at 1300 New Hampshire Avenue. Mr. Pairo was born in this city July 24, 1810 and resided here nearly all his life. He was the eldest son of Thomas W. Pairo and a grandson of Anthony Holmead Sr., the original proprietor of much of the northwest portion of the District.
He was the senior member of the old firm of Pairo & Nourse, at one time among the leading bankers of the city. Later, for many years Mr. Pairo was a clerk in the War Department. Recently he had led a very retired life having been an invalid for the past year of more. His death came rather suddenly, however. A widow, two daughters and a son survive him.
