He was born October 17, 1927 to Thomas C. and Luella May Cummings Horner.
He was a devoted brother to Thomas Rex Horner. Don graduated from Wasatch High School, where he was active in football and the FFA.
He worked for Byron Pierce in the blacksmith shop and became an expert welder. He graduated from Utah State University in Logan and the ROTC. He married Inez Price on March 22, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they went to Angouleme, France, where he served in the military.
In 1955, he became a farm implement dealer. His warm, friendly nature enabled him to establish lifelong relationships with those he served. He loved to travel and a good auction, but most of all he loved his family.
Don was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings. Don and Inez enjoyed serving in the Provo Temple. Don especially loved talking to the missionaries.
He is survived by his wife, Inez, of Heber City; three children, Carol Michele (Leo) Smith, of Louisiana, Phyllis (Steve) Shelton, of Midway, and Nile Don (Ann) Horner, of Heber City; nine grandchildren, Nathan (Alisa) Smith, Amanda Smith, Matthew (Megan) Smith, Ethan (Stephanie) Smith, Kesia Horner, Dalon Horner, Thomas Horner, Kierstin Horner, and Spencer Shelton; four great-grandsons.
