Referred to by my family as Alec, he was the last child of TG & Elizabeth born just six weeks before his mother's death he never knew her. Along with being a very sucessful farmer in Fallowfield Township he was well known as a broker of coal in the region acting on behalf of the land owners. Alexander served in the Union Army from 1862 until mustered out following it's end in 1865 he later filled for and was granted a vet pension. He served in the PA 114th and seen action in at least 11 major battles including Gettysburg where his name is enshrined on the PA Memorial with his unit. Alex married and had a son Walter and Daughter Elizabeth who passed about age 7 and interred by her parents. His first wife passed and he remarried having 4 more sons, of the 5 4 lived to old age as did Alex and his second wife. Alex, his wifes and daughters are buried close to his father and step mother in the old part of the cemetery. All of his son's are buried in the cemetery also, his mother was buried in Speers before the current family cemetery was established.
