Ruth W. Bloss, 102 years, of Beatrice, NE. passed away at Parkview Center Friday afternoon, October 31, 2008. She was born on July 6, 1906 at Sterling, NE. to August and Louise (Boslau) Rulla. She was a graduate of Vesta High School in Vesta, NE. and a 1924 graduate of the College of Agriculture in Lincoln, NE. Ruth had been married to Harrison Scott, Tony Voortman and Melvin "Mel" Bloss. She had been employed at the Beatrice City Library and at the former Beatrice National Bank. Ruth was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Beatrice and the St. Elizabeth and St. Mary's Altar Guilds at the church; member of Chapter Z, PEO; and was a past volunteer and the Bargain Box.
Survivors include her son Walter W. Scott and his wife Michael of Kansas City, MO.; daughter Lynn Weaver and her husband Don of Beatrice; 3 grandsons Greg Weaver and his wife Louann of Beatrice; Michael Weaver of Kansas City, and Cameron Scott of Gainesville, Florida; 3 great grandchildren Scott, Myles and Nicole Weaver; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Louise (Boslau) Rulla; husbands Harrison Scott, Tony Voortman and Melvin "Mel" Bloss; and 6 brothers and sisters.
Memorial:
A memorial has been established to the Christ Church Foundation with Bill Boyce in charge.
Cemetery:
Private family interment will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery.
Visitations:
The body will lie in state Monday from 1-9 and Tuesday from 9-12:00 at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice and not at the church.
Services:
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at the Christ Church Episcopal in Beatrice with Father Rick Moon officiating.
