Oliver Rogers was born January 10, 1826 in Lawrence County Indiana. His parents were Lewis Rogers and Martha Unknown. He moved to Greene County Indiana with his parents before 1850. The family settled in the area that was later to become Jasonville, named after his brother, Jason Rogers.
He was married to Martha Shepherd, daughter of Humphrey Shepherd and Eliza McCutchan, on September 23, 1852 in Sullivan County Indiana. Oliver owned and farmed land just east of Jasonville in Wright Twp.
Oliver and Martha had the following children: George Washington, Joseph A., Sarah Jane, James Mathias, William B., Benjamin Franklin, Mary Lucinda, Martha Alice "Allie", Elizabeth M., Eliza M. and David J.
Oliver Rogers died January 10th 1878 and is buried in the Shepherd Cemetery, Sullivan County Indiana.
