Sam Henry Arwood, 87, of the Newport Highway, died Sunday at his home.

Mr. Arwood retired from Magnavox, which later became Philips Consumer Electronics Co.

He was a charter member of United Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Goldie Metcalf Arwood; a daughter and son-in-law: Mitzi and Glenn Ward of Greeneville; a grandson: Rodney Ward of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece: Norma Jean Ricker of Greeneville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Guy and Ola Mae Metcalf of Greeneville, Lloyd and Thelma Metcalf of Florida, Patsy and Crawford Ricker of Greeneville, Belle Ball of Tacoma, Wash., Margie Metcalf of Nasell, Wash., Marie Metcalf of Greeneville; and two special neighbors: Hilda Hawk and Joyce Holt.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Howard Arwood; and two sisters: Fannie Fry and Leo Kessler.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with interment in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Lamar Whittemore and James Barham will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Ricker, Benny Metcalf, Dereck Metcalf, Billy Hawk, Donnie Cook, and Bob Fox.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. James Rodgers, Dr. Harry Stumm, Winston Holt, the men of United Baptist Church, and Pete Luttrell.
