Martha Vernell "Nell" Alexander Gastineau, 97, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at her residence.

She was born in Bobtown, Kentucky on June 21, 1920, daughter of the late James W. and Bertha Mae Abbott Alexander. She was a homemaker and a member of Etna Church of Christ.

She is survived by five sons, Ron & (Sue) Gastineau of Lexington, Coy Gastineau and Phil & (Janet) Gastineau, both of Eubank, Steve & (Caron) Gastineau of Lexington and Mike & (Debi) Gastineau of Magnolia, TX, two daughters, Ruth & (Glen) Absher of Eubank and Lois Croll of East Pointe, MI, twenty three grandchildren, forty four great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold J. Gastineau, whom she married on August 6, 1938 and who died on March 2, 1999, her parents, one son, Harold Gastineau, Jr., one daughter, Rena Gastineau, three brothers, Lloyd, Gilbert and Leon, two sisters, Ruby and Frances and two grandchildren, Donald and Isaac.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, September 18, 2017 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Reynolds and Bro. Ferlin Price officiating.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10 AM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donation to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
