When three years of age he was brought to the United States by his parents, the family locating in Prairie township, Delaware county, Iowa. He grew to manhood in Prairie township, receiving his education in the rural schools of the county. His marriage with Miss Lena Jordison took place on March 23, 1892. Six children were born to this union.

Mr. Durey spent the greater part of his life on the farm. For nine years he and his wife made their home in Waverly, and then returned to the farm again. In 1938 they gave up farming and moved to Manchester, their home since.

Mr. Durey had been a hard working man, upright of character, and honorable in his dealings with his neighbors, and highly regarded by his many friends.

The widow and children have the profound sympathy of many friends in their sorrow.
