Death on Thursday laid his cold hand upon another of Lancaster's most venerable and esteemed residents. Mrs. Anna-Maria Carson (nee Albright), widow of the late Henry P. Carson, died at her residence, on West Vine street, at the advanced age of eighty-five years.
Deceased was the oldest member of St. John's Episcopal Church, her husband having been one of the charter members, and a member of the first vestry, organized May 5. 1853, serving as vestryman and for several years as Junior Warden, until failing health prompted his resignation. In the early struggles incident to founding the parish Mrs. Carson was one of the most active and useful workers, co-operating with Miss Mary Bowman and her brother.
Rev. Dr. Bowman, in the various auxiliary movements they started, prominent among which was the Ladies Sewing Circle and Parish Aid Society. She was a, most lovable woman, a devout Christian, always present at the ministrations of the church so long as her health permitted, an affectionate wife and mother at home. She leaves two children to mourn her loss, Mr.
Harry Carson, of the Intelligencer, and Miss Kate, both residing at home.
