Newton, N.C. - Virginia Alley Green, 75, of 2251 Tail Water Road Lot 8 in Newton, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at her residence.

A native of Rutherford County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Oscar W. Alley and Effie Morgan Alley. She retired from Rose's Discount Store and later worked for Abernathy Care Center, was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Forest City and attended Faith Baptist Church in Newton.

Survivors include her husband, Spurgeon Green of the home; a son, Glenn Hardin Jr. and wife, Kay, of Lincolnton; a daughter, Glenda Young and husband, Larry, of Clarkesville, Tenn.; two brothers, O.W. Alley Jr. of Forest City and Jimmy Alley of Spindale; a sister, Brenda Alley of Forest City; four grandchildren, Allen Hardin and wife, Janis, of Newton, Michael Bailey of Maiden, Jason Hardin of Lincolnton and Matt Hardin and wife, Danielle, of Lincolnton.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2009 in the Crestview Baptist Church, with the Revs. Boyce Gregory and Tommy Young officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.
