William married Nancy Elizabeth Grindstaff.

The family was listed in the 1910 census living in White Oak District of Adair County, Kentucky. They were listed as: William E, head, age 41, married for 21 years, farmer; Nancie E, wife, age 45, married for 21 years, 7 children but only 6 living; John C, son, age 20; Mary A, daughter, age 18; Laura H, daughter, age 15; Ida M, daughter, age 14; Iva L, son age 11; and Basil U, son, age 9. All born in Kentucky.

William and Nancy lost at least 3 children in the flu epidemic of 1918. Basil, Iva and Laura all died in October 1918 and are also buried in this cemetery.

The 1920 census had them listed as Ed and Nancy, age 52 and 56, respectively. No children were living with them.

His death certificate had his name listed as W. Edd Gentry and his wife as Elizabeth, which must have been her middle name. According to the death certificate, he was born May 24, 1868 and died January 15, 1929. His parents were listed as C.C. Gentry and Lizzie Simpson. It also indicates that he is buried in this cemetery.

The 1930 census had his widowed wife listed as Nancy Gentry, age 65, first married at age 23. She had 4 grandchildren living with her: Wayne D, grandson, age 14; Lizzie, granddaughter, age 11; Laura E, granddaughter, age 8; and Bonnie L, granddaughter, age 7. The grandchildren's surname was McElroy so they were the children of one of William's daughters.
