George Martin Allen, Sr. (August 12, 1882 – February 19, 1968) served as Hays County Sheriff from November 1916 to January 1931. Sheriff Allen served as a Texas Ranger and as the first Liquor Control Commissioner of Texas. Sheriff Allen's family can be traced back to the first American colonists that moved to Texas in 1835. Sheriff Martin's grandfather was Phillip Jefferson Allen, served at the Alamo and shipped arms to the Texas armies during the Texas Revolution, and later became one of the first Hays County Commissioners.

Sheriff Allen passed away on February 19, 1968 and was interred in the Kyle Cemetery in Kyle, Texas.
