Co H 135th Indiana - age 17 left Wabash to fight but returned there for his degree graduating in 1867. Studied medicine with Stockwell's pioneer doctor Moses Baker. Graduated from Miami Medical College (Cincinnati) and Indiana Med School; worked at Bellevue Hospital and began his 50+ year practice in Crawfordsville, Montgomery County Indiana April 1873. Married Lucy Ayres Nov 13, 1877 - two children (son John who passed as a young boy and tore his parents up with grief and Eva Elizabeth "his beloved Bessie" at whose home he passed in his late 90s, taking after his father. Bessie died in an automobile accident at age 68 however, and having married Lewis Repp Ferguson in her later years left no children.
