On March 13,1902 Jonas married Annie Marie Johnson, daughter of Soren and Ragnhild Johnson,who lived about two miles away. They were the parents of four children: Gerhard, Regina, Clara, and Mabel.
Jonas and Annie operated the Alstad farm. Jonas passed away at the age of fifty years and Annie continued to work the farm with the help of Ole and her son Gerhard.
