Mrs. Gertrude Miller Answers Call of Creator Following Lingering Illness of About Two Years
At the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William Hodorff 4 miles southwest of Buckman, occurred the death of Mrs. Gertrude Miller on Saturday morning at 4:50 o'clock. She was 77 years of age. The aged lady was in ill health for about two years and since last June she had been confined to her bed. A stroke caused her death on Saturday.
On March 17, 1852, Gertrude Kelzenberg was born at Koeln, Germany. When 17 years of age, the Kelzenberg family came to America when they settled at Michagan, Wis. After spending a year there, they came to this county and settled at Buckman.
About 50 years ago Gertrude Kelzenberg was married to Peter Miller who has passed away over 20 years ago. Since arriving at Buckman, the deceased has always resided there. She made her home at the Wm. Hodorff farm during the past three years.
Nine of her twelve children survive her death. They are Joe Miller of Little Falls, Mrs. Henry Brausen of Morrill, Hubert of Rice, Mrs. Joe Smith of St. Cloud and Mrs. Wm. Hodorff, Mrs. Joe Grundhoefer, Nick L., Peter T. and Paul Miller all of Buckman. Two brothers, John and Hubert Kelzenberg of Buckman also survive.
Burial service for the deceased Mrs. Miller was held in St. Michael church at Buckman at ten o'clock Tuesday morning. The remains were laid to rest in the Buckman village cemetery.
