Wilfred 'Willie' Lochner, 86

Wilfred "Willie" Lochner, a resident of Pierz, formerly of Buckman, died Oct. 10, 2009, at the Pierz Villa.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman with the Rev. Gerald Dalseth and the Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Wilfred was born Dec. 22, 1922, on his great-grandfather's century farm in Pierz Township, Morrison County, to the late Matt and Dora (Hoheisel) Lochner. He attended District #98 Country School. After completing his schooling, he farmed with his father on the family's century farm. He also worked for the Buckman Creamery driving milk truck for a couple of years. Willie worked for his brother-in-law, Lawrence Otremba, in the construction business for a few years. Willie was united in marriage to Catherine Denzen May 21, 1960, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Buckman. The couple made their home in Hopkins, where he worked various construction jobs. In 1980, they returned to Buckman and Willie worked for Tri-City Paving for five years. He retired in 1985, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, Catherine. Wilfred was a faithful husband and took tremendous care of his wife. When she became ill and was a resident of St. Otto's Care Center, he did not miss a day tending to her and giving her special care. Catherine died in January 1998. After her death, Willie always asked to be with his wife. Willie enjoyed fishing, hunting, especially deer, which he hunted until he was 82. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed playing cards (Widow Whist and Dirty Clubs) with friends and family. Willie had a dry sense of humor and loved being around people. No one was ever a stranger very long. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Aid and the Laborers Union #563.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings Edna Mueller of Pierz, Charles "Carl" Lochner and wife Ann of Pierz, LeRoy Lochner and wife Margaret of Sartell, Donna Mae Kelzenberg and husband Oliver of Shoreview; several nieces; nephews; and friends at the Pierz Villa.

He was preceded in death by his parents Matt and Dora (Hoheisel) Lochner; wife Catherine Lochner; sister Alvina Brandl; and brother Herman Lochner.
