Josefa Yrissari Armijo and her husband, Don Nestor Armijo, built a successful ranching and freighting business in Mexico and New Mexico. They bought a home from Bradford Daily and his wife, Marcita, in 1877, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This house was the first two story house in Las Cruces and the first to have electricity. (The Armijos added the second story). It is listed on the National Historic Register. It originally had corrals, farms vineyards and orchards. Upon the death of Don Nestor Armijo, the property passed to his granddaughters, Josephine Gallagher and Gertrude Ascarate.
