Mrs. Ellen Skipper Wife of A.K. Skipper, of Mapleton, died early on Monday last, the result evidently of a paralytic stroke received the evening before, which rendered her speechless. Mrs. Skipper, whose maiden name was McConahy, was born near Three Springs, this county, December 10, 1842, hence was aged 56 years, 10 months and 6 days. About 1860 she was married to James McNerlin, who died December 20, 1865. Of That union three children survive. They are William McNerlin, of Hare's Valley; James McNerlin, of Altoona, and Mrs. James Keith, of Well's Valley, Fulton county. February 17, 1870, she was married to Augustus Skipper and to them were born eight children, seven of whom survive. They are Mrs. Annie Teeters, of Blair county; Mrs. Maggie Arnold, Mrs. Lottie Parsons, Samuel, Thomas, Luther and Gilbert, of Mapleton. Some weeks ago Mr. Skipper had a paralytic stroke and he is in a helpless condition. Mrs.Skipper is also survived by four sisters and three half-brothers. They are Mrs. Jane Deeter, of Brady township; Mrs. Rebecca Banks, of Spruce Creek; Mrs. James Banks, of Ryde; Mrs. Lizzie Stewart, of Wisconsin; James Price, of Newton Hamilton; John Price, of Union township, and George Price of Wisconsin. Her aged mother makes her home with Mrs. Banks at Ryde. Deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church, her funeral being held on Tuesday afternoon and conducted by her pastor, Rev. D.H. Campbell.
