Marion Milford Lewis is the eighth of nine children born to the Rev. Thomas Baker Lewis and his wife, Mahala Lett Lewis. Rev. Thomas Baker Lewis was a Baptist pastor for 31 years in Indiana and Kansas.

Marion came to Lewis County, Washington in 1885 preaching as missionary and organizing nearly all the churches in that section of the country until he left. He went to Morgan Park Seminary in 1887, completed a course of study, and was paster at different places until 1 Oct when he took the pastorate of the Second Baptist Church of Portland.

On 13 May 1886, Marion married Emma Francis Beusch, daughter of Jacob and Mary Catherine Splitter Beusch, at the First Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon. Marion and Emma had two daughters, Melva and Zilla.

Marion began his ministry at the First Albany Church in Oregon upon the retirement of the former minister on 1 Oct 1896. He left the Second Church in Portland to do so. He died of typhoid fever on 6 Jan 1897.
