Skip died Fri., March 27, 2009, at his home at the age of 77.
The son of Henry Claude and Phillipa Roth (Coly) Orr was born Dec. 28, 1931, in Claremore. Skip was raised in Rogers County; and stayed busy helping on the farm and helping to raise his younger brothers and sisters. Skip joined the National Guard and shortly thereafter was called to serve in the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean Conflict and earned a Purple Heart. On Aug. 9, 1957, Skip married Virginia Ann Brewster in Pryor. They have made their home in Pryor, Foyil, Tulsa, Catoosa, and Arizona. They have made their home in the Winganon area since 2003. While they lived in Catoosa, Skip was active in the Masonic Lodge. Skip worked with the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers, Locals 1002 out of Tulsa and 769 out of Arizona. He also worked with Public Service Company for several years, and helped to build the Oologah Dam. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, rodeo, bull riding, and riding horses.
Skip was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Orr; sister, Irene Fiesal and husband, Phil; brother, Wayne Lawson; and sister-in-law, Peggy Orr.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home; children: Lisa Ray and husband, Tracy of Pryor, Chris Orr of Pryor, and Lora Ridenour and husband, Louis of Chelsea; siblings: Nita Chambers and husband, Earl of Claremore, Phyllis Ann "Sug" Blankenship and husband, Doug of Claremore, Ted Lawson and wife, Esther of Las Vegas, Jimmy Lawson and wife, Betty of Tulsa, Tommy Orr and wife, Joann of Claremore, Sam Orr of Claremore, and Curt Orr of Claremore; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lawson of Tulsa; grandchildren: Becky Barnett and husband, Olon, Shane Ray and wife, Jennifer, Summer Dicks and husband, T.J., Austin Kerns, and Dana Kerns; and great-grandchildren: Meghan and Taylor Barnett, Tacy and Trent Ray, Wrangler Dicks, and Cutter Hull.
