Guy DeArmond Dies In San Mateo County
Guy DeArmond, 72, former Orland resident for many years died yesterday at his home at 944 Elm street, San Carlos, San Mateo County, following a short illness of flu and pneumonia. The funeral services are to be held Saturday afternoon at 2 in the White Oaks Chapel, at San Carlos.
DeArmond was born in Missouri and came west as a young man of about 20 when the family moved to a ranch just west of Orland. He followed the carpenter trade here and later was an insurance representative before moving to the bay area in 1940.
He was married here to the former Irma Cushman, daughter of the late Fred Cushman, Newville district rancher, and member of a pioneer family that settled in this area 100 years ago the coming spring.
Survivors include the wife, two sons Louis and Clyde both of San Carlos; two brothers, Roy of San Carlos and Paul of Bakersfield, and two grandchildren. Another brother, Clyde, onetime Orland postmaster, was a victim of the 1918 flu epidemic. - Transcribed by E.
