SINSEL, William F.
Corporal, Co. C, 178th New York Infantry

He was born in Newark, New Jersey in Oct of 1848. At age 16, he enlisted as a Private at New York City on 31 Aug 1863 and mustered into Co. I of his Regiment on 03 Sep 1863. On 01 Feb 1865, he transferred from Co. I to Co. C. He was promoted to Corporal on 01 Nov 1865 and mustered out of service on 20 Apr 1866 at Montgomery, Alabama. Before moving to Bremerton, with his wife, in 1908 he had been engaged in mining in Montana. In 1900, he was living in Ravalli County, Montana where he farmed. He died at his home on Gregory Way on 30 Jun 1933 at the age of 82 years and 2 months. When he died, he was the last member of the Grand Army of the Republic living in Bremerton. His wife, Elizabeth R. Astle, born in Utah in Oct of 1859, had passed away in 1917. She is also buried in Ivy Green Cemetery.
